Don't judge me

#BlogEveryDayInMay
Day 24 - Your top 3 worst traits.

That post was supposed to go live yesterday but I forgot to schedule it. I'm so glad to finally enjoy the weekend! I had a long week again, and wish I could just stop time and sit down for a few minutes - which I can do now because it's Saturday!

Today's post was quite easy to write, weirdly enough, because I know I have a lot of faults. Hahaa... yes indeed I do, and no need to remind me I have these particular faults because I am totally aware of them and won't deny.

I hold grudges. I think that's the worst because it can make my life hell. If someone betrays, backstabs or hurts me deeply, I get very angry and can easily cut him/her out of my life. I just can't forget and don't easily forgive.

I am bossy. Ludo reminds me of this personality trait all the time, and he's right. Sometimes I forget I'm not at school anymore and tend to give him orders and talk to him as if he was one of my pupils. I enjoy being THE boss in class and apparently at home too. Can't help it.

I am impatient. I hate waiting. I can't bear being in a waiting room or waiting for someone. If you're late, there is a chance I'm going to be grumpy afterwards.

What I think
I watched Gangs of New York the first day it was released in France and remember I loved it. Not only did I think that DiCaprio was awesome but I also think that the most talented person in this film is Daniel Day-Lewis. He is just spectacular and one of the best actors. He truly deserves his Oscar statuettes. The cast is good and I totally approve of the DiCaprio/Diaz couple. It's not the kind of chemistry and passion he had with Kate Winslet in Titanic though, it's different but I liked the pair and would love to see them in another movie - as lovers again.

I felt like this film was a kind of turning point for DiCaprio. He seems more "adult". Maybe that's because of the hair on his face but it's so much different from Titanic or even The Beach which was released just two years before. I was really impressed by this new physical appearance like he was becoming a man. Remember his angelic Romeo face? He really used to look like a baby, don't you think so? Gangs of New York was a big change.

As far as the story is concerned, I wasn't disappointed either. I love American History - majored in American History at college - and this is a period I particularly enjoy watching or reading about. I know some historians cringed at some parts of the film but first, I thought the set was really good, I totally imagine the Five Points like that at that period and second, Amsterdam Vallon and Bill the Butcher's story could have happened. One sure thing, Gangs of New York felt real to me, even the gory parts felt real!
